Team Chicago Academy-Cruzeiro tri-captain Kerry Abello has accepted a great scholarship offer to continue her soccer career at Penn State University. Kerry, who plays her prep soccer at Benet Academy, will be part of Penn State Head Coach Erica Walsh’s 2017 recruiting class.

The Nittany Lions is a perennial Big Ten powerhouse, and Kerry will be joining a long list of youth national team players. Currently, the Nittany Lions have four players on the U20 National Team roster.

Team Chicago Academy-Brasilia standout Jade Eriksen-Russo has accepted a great scholarship to continue her soccer career at DePaul University. Jade, who plays her prep soccer at Metea Valley H.S., will be part of DePaul Head Coach Erin Chastain’s 2017 recruiting class.

The Blue Demons had a breakout season last Fall as they were crowned both Big East regular season champions and Big East Tournament champions. DePaul completed an undefeated regular season with a 16-0-4 record before falling to Wisconsin in the NCAA tournament.

Team Chicago Academy-Palmeiras has been selected to participate in the U16 Boys IYSA State Premiership Elite Division this Spring season. Palmeiras is coached by Herb Schuler who is currently in charge of the Team Chicago Academy U12, U13, U14, and U16 boys.

Palmeiras will play a 7-game schedule against the teams listed below for a top-seed in the IYSA State Cup:

Crystal Lake Force Elite

The Elite division is the top division in the IYSA State Premiership. Congrats to Herb and the boys. They will also be embarking on their Midwest Regional League play shortly.

Yesterday Team Chicago celebrated the National Letter of Intent Signing Day with the 11 Team Chicago Academy-Internacional players who signed a NLI. Congrats to all the girls for their amazing accomplishments thus far, and we wish them all the best in their college careers.

With the 11 players signing yesterday, the list of Team Chicago players who have gone on to play college soccer over the past three years currently stands at 53 players.

Team Chicago Academy-Brasilia co-captain Maggie Roe has accepted a great scholarship offer to continue her soccer career at the University of Illinois. Maggie, who plays her prep soccer for Head Coach Julie Bergstrom at Waubonsie Valley H.S., will be part of the UofI 2017 recruiting class.

The University of Illinois is coached by coaching legend Janet Rayfield, and a perennial BigTen powerhouse. Maggie is the third Team Chicago player in recent years to commit to Illinois joining current Fighting Illini standouts Hope D’Addario (2013) and Olivia Schmitt (2014).
